Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 18 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, some of which appear to have been stabilized in the past with glue. The top shade aperture is slightly out of round, which is not apparent when the heat cap is installed. The rare Pumpkin base retains its original blown-glass body and is in remarkable condition. As expected, the blown glass with some occasional minor air bubble and particulate inclusions and some minor surface imperfections (all inherent in the making). One of the raised air bubble inclusions with some associated small and shallow surface fractures (1/8 inch diameter), which also appears to be inherent in the making. The glass body with some occasional light surface scratches, surface soiling and a few isolated paint specks. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display a rich russet brown and green patina, with some light surface wear, some occasional surface scratches, and rubbing to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. There is a series of short linear abrasions marks to the lower base ring (approximately ΒΌ x 2 inches). All of the bronze chains and balls appear intact and evenly spaced around the perimeter of the shade. Under close inspection some of these elements appear to have been replaced. The decorative oil canister, which by all accounts appears to be original to the base, has been converted to electricity and is fitted with a later riser and socket cluster. Presumably when the base was converted, the underside of the oil canister and base were drilled for the electric cord. These cord apertures have now been sensitively patched. With a replaced heat cap. A spectacular unit, displaying a beautifully proportioned and dynamic shade and base pairing. The shade displays a naturalistic and artistic glass selection, and is very harmonious in palette with the vibrant blown-glass base.
