Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 20 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout and with some minor surface soiling along the recessed contours of the shade leading and glass. The patinated bronze base is in very good condition, displaying an exceptionally rich green-brown patina. The patinated bronze surfaces throughout with some occasional light surface scratches, gentle rubbing and surface soiling consistent with age and use. As is commonly seen with this telescopic base design, the upper portion of the telescoping base does not sit entirely flush with the bottom shaft and is slightly raised approximately ½ inch. The latter is a result of the wiring coiling up in the interior of the base shaft. If desired this could be remedied by rewiring the base. The bronze base switch, sockets and paddle switches all appear to be original and undisturbed. Three of the six black bakelite bushings that insulate the sockets have recently been replaced but are of the same design as their period counterparts. With period knop finial which shows light wear and rubbing to the patina around the outermost perimeter surfaces consistent with age and gentle use. The underbase with earlier Sotheby's lot sticker and old felt gliders on the underside of each foot. The shade with a particularly dynamic and artistic glass selection accentuated by the deep range of reds and pinks articulating the flower blossoms and strong accents of ultramarine striated with pink throughout the background glass.
