Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 3 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout and one tight hairline crack to one of the smaller glass cabochons. The rare mosaic “Dragonfly” base is in extraordinary condition. All of the favrile glass mosaic tiles appear to be intact and undisturbed, with no visible losses or restoration. There are a few occasional very small and minor cracks and edge flecks to the mosaic glass. The patinated bronze elements on the base show minimal gentle rubbing, and display an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina. The casting details on the base articulating the dragonflies and stylized branching are exceptionally crisp and well-defined. The sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed, and with a period “Spider” heat cap which also appears to be original with a corresponding patina to the base. A spectacular unit, displaying the ideal shade and base pairing for the model. The shade is distinguished by its vigorously mottled background glass which adds great visual interest and depth, further heightened by the accents of cobalt blue and fiery orange in the dragonfly spines and top border glass. The mosaic glass selection of the base is exceptionally artistic, displaying a strong luminous color palette of striking blues and greens which is harmonious with the shade. The decorative wavy lines seen throughout the mosaic base tiles are dynamic and well defined, imparting the base with even more visual interest.
