Condition

Overall very good condition. The polished elements of the chair with some irregularities that appear inherent in the making. With some light surface scratches. The coloration of the polished portion of the chair presents in the catalogue illustration are the result of reflections, and the color is more consistent across the seat of the chair. Please contact the department for additional images of this chair. A rare offering at auction by this famed contemporary design duo.

Catalogue Note

The "Rock" furniture series was introduced by Studio Job in 2005 at Cibone in Tokyo.   Presented within the artists' rendering of their stylish and refined castle, the designs of the "Rock" series were intended to contrast the bold wallpaper patterning and other intricately inlaid furniture within the "Private Suite".  The series comprising the "Rock" Sofa, "Rock" Chair and "Rock" Chaise Longue quickly became a sensation and examples of the "Rock" Sofa are in the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum and the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands.
