This rare work was made directly for the present owner, who had a longstanding relationship with the designer. This piece demonstrates the incredible craftsmanship of Wendell Castle, and in person the subtle detailing within this work is extraordinary. With a few very shallow surface scratches. This piece has been sensitively maintained since its purchase and the present condition shows the high degree of care. The single drawer opens with ease. The work is slightly asymmetrical when viewed in person, and please visit sothebys.com or contact the department for a head on photograph of the work, showing this intricate detail.
