Condition

Overall very good original condition. This table was acquired from Nakashima in 1964 and was gentle used by the family. The piece has been cleaned and oiled throughout its history and the care to which was maintained is evident in the present condition of the table. The top with some minor surface scratches, and the top surfaces of the feet of the base showing similar shallow scratches from use. The top surface of the table is slightly shiny, which is original to the finish of this highly figured laurel board. Requested in laurel, the table shows a wonderful deep tone and nice size. The top is comprised of three magnificent book-matched boards fastened by East Indian rosewood keys, which maintain their rich coloration. The table comfortably accommodates six and could accommodate more. A wonderful and richly colored example of laurel, which is a beautiful variant in George Nakashima’s designs.
