- shade engraved L.C.T.
base impressed 424/TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK favrile glass and patinated bronze
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The favrile glass shade is in good condition, with one small edge chip (½ inch) to the top aperture rim, as well as remnants of old brown paper tape below the outer perimeter edge of the top aperture (presumably applied to protect the shade), none of which is visible when the shade is installed. The top aperture rim with a small rectangle drawn by hand in pencil around the faintly engraved L.C.T. mark. The shade with several scattered small air bubble inclusions and open air bubbles, all inherent in the making. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with a few very small and minor light surface scratches and abrasion marks, gentle rubbing, and with one very small area of patina loss to the outer harp ring (1/4 inch) consistent with age and use. With light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the base. Appears to retain period socket and switch. When viewed with reflective light the damascene glass shade is a bright lime and kelly green with iridized feather decoration displaying strong luminous color; the base displays a rich russet brown and green patina. In the catalogue illustration, this shade appears slightly too amber in color as a result of being shown illuminated with a greater degree of remitted light (more so than the other two lamps in the photograph which are shown with more reflective light).
