Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This charming sketch is clean and in beautiful state. There are no restorations to the paint layer at all. Although the work is on a fairly rough canvas and painted in a typical plein air fashion, the condition seems to be more or less as the artist intended it. There may be a thin old lining to the canvas, but it seems that this is an old 19th century lining. It is not recommended that this lining be attended to by a restorer.
