surmounted by a violet Brocatelle marble top, above fretwork panels on the cabinet sides and face and a central door inset with a Japanese lacquer plaque of a rooster opening to one shelf lined with quilted blue-green silk damask, a spring-release frieze drawer opening to a blue-green silk damask lined writing surface, the gilt bronze border engraved henry Dasson 1879 and the carcass stamped twice HENRY DASSON 1879.

Condition

Overall in good condition. The mahogany and burr ambonya surfaces with minor nicks and scratches consistent with age and use. The gilt bronze mounts with minor scratches and occasional oxidation point, also consistent with age and use. The marble top with some adhesive residue and surface dirt. The damask lining of the writing surface with some wear and fading, the quilted damask with multiple tears that expose the horse-hair stuffing.
