The design of these wall appliques is derived from a group of ormolu wall appliques of the mid-1780s, attributed to Pierre Gouthière (see Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. I, p. 241).
Overall in fair condition. Formerly wired, now with exposed ends of wire. Tarnishing to gilt bronze mostly to pine cone finial. Tarnishing and dirt to crevices.
