Condition

Overall in very good and original condition. As stated in the guarantee line, this clock is very finely cast. There are no keys for the movement. Very light scratches and wear in areas. The base platform with wear, loss to gilding and some stains. Each handle supported by the patinated bronze putti will need to be professionally re-fitted. The enamelled circular minutes dial shows some small chips to upper edge. A highly impressive lot.

Catalogue Note

A similar example is now in the Museo de Relojes in Jerez de la Frontero, Spain.  A drawing by Forty can be found in the bibliothèque Doucet in Paris with a stamp from the Dernieres workshop.  Although apparently unmarked the quality of manufacture of our model is of the highest Parisian standards, reminiscent of what the firm of Derniere would have produced.
