the clock surmounted by a gilt bronze figural group after Claude-Michel Clodion and set on a later painted and gilt carved wooden pedestal, the back with a cupboard door opening to two shelves, the sculpture inscribed Clodion/1762Movement replaced.

Condition

Overall in good condition. The gilt bronze sculpture with some surface scratches, nicks, abrasions, light rubbing in places, scattered oxidation points and surface dirt. The clock portion in fair condition. The marble with scattered minor nicks and scratches to surface, one crack to molding in front measuring approximately 1 inch in length, one repair to proper right front corner and corner losses (one with a related crack) to each back lower corner, the larger of which measures approximately 1 inch in width. The top panel of the clock was once glued and is now detacheable, however this is not detectable when the sculpture is placed on top of the clock. The gilt bronze mounts on the clock are in good condition, with light surface scratches, nicks scattered oxidation points and surface dirt consistent with age and use. The clock movement has been replaced and the metal hands and dial are currently loose. The later carved, painted and gilt pedestal base is in good condition with nicks, scratches, rubbing and wear to edges consistent with age and use.
