the superstructure surmounted by an arched pediment above two cupboard doors each centered by oval medallions inlaid with depictions of Herculean scenes, the lower cabinet with a slant front inlaid with two scenes of Medieval processions opening to a gilt-tooled beige writing surface and four drawers above two frieze drawers inlaid with scrolling vines and animals above two cupboard doors, the proper right door opening to one shelf.
Condition
Overall in good and fair condition for its age. There are hairline cracks to ivory consistent with age. Some wear to most of the molded edges, now showing the bare wood (since the ebonizing is a black stain.) The proper lefthand side drawer has a replacement knob. There is a rather large and visible scratch and wear to the front proper righthand side of the pediment, and to the pediment there are two ivory squares lacking. One can notice white squares of ivory to the pediment and beneath the cornice; some have been replaced or overpainted. The bottom section shows a long vertical age crack to its proper right side. The middle section shows a horizontal age crack to its proper left side. The white leather writing surface is a later replacement.
