Catalogue Note

The Parisian ébèniste Henri Nelson took over his father's workshop at 46, rue de la Madelaine.  He later transferred to 79, Boulevard Hausmann before finally settling at 27, rue Pasquier in 1879.  At the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, he exhibited under the field "décorateurs" and was honored with a gold medal for the quality of his work.  (See Camille Mestdagh, L'Ameublement d'Art Français 1850-1900, p. 199.)
