the top inset with a painted oval cabochon of an allegory of love depicting a young classically costumed couple by a fountain surrounded by cupids at play, flanked by two inset lapis lazuli marble plaques above a spring-released frieze drawer, the front and back centered by a jasperware plaque with cupids allegorical of music, the bronze molding engraved MILLET À PARIS to the front proper left corner.

Condition

Overall in good and fair condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Tarnishing, dirt and wear to gilt bronze in places. The marble with the usual minor chips to edges, scratches to surface consistent with age and use. The jasperware is in good condition, but with some yellow staining probably due to varnish. The top of the platform stretcher will need to be refinished, as it shows extensive pilling from original varnish. The bronze leg and foot and gallery are lacquered and not gilded.
