Catalogue Note

Mark Isaacson made several trips to Stockholm in the late 1980's and early 1990's, bringing back 30 or 40 miniature Friberg vases on each trip. He crammed these in his luggage, avoiding complicated customs and expensive shipping costs. We sold many of them to Robert Mapplethorpe, who often used them in his photographs. Robert contributed a photo for an advertisement for Fifty/50, showing a Friberg vase with flowers.  -MM
