Condition

Overall in very good condition. The window is structurally sound. All of the glass and caming appear original and undisturbed. There are no visible cracks to the glass. The window retains its original gilding, which shows a few scattered minute losses and some surface oxidation and discoloration throughout consistent with age and use. With surface soiling along the contours of the caming. The window presently set in a probably later painted wood frame, showing brown in color to the front and white to the reverse. With a handle affixed presently to the back side of the frame for use. The painted surface with scattered losses, nicks and dings conistent with age and use. A very good example of a window from this important commission executed during Wright's early career..

Catalogue Note

"During the 1980s, the Fifty/50 shop at Broadway and 10th Street was New York City's Design Central—the clubhouse for aficionados of modern applied art.  In the small inner sanctum at the rear, where Mark McDonald, Ralph Cutler, and Mark Isaacson held court from behind their desks, the true believers/collectors would gather on Saturday afternoons to banter with the three genial proprietors, who shared their knowledge and unveiled newfound treasures. (Of course, we were all inveterate shoppers.)  Ever since, the spirit of those halcyon days has been embodied in Mark M, who remains the torchbearer for the cause.  When you mix knowledge with passion, then add visual acuity and a whole lot of integrity, you get Mark McDonald."
