Provenance

provenance

1. Perhaps made for the church of St. Leger, Couhard, near La Rochelle: certainly for the diocese of Autun, the Calendar with St. Leodegarius (here "Leger") in red, seventh-century bishop of the town, 2 October; and nineteenth-century French inscription inside front board identifying it as from there.

2. Bergendal MS.119; bought by Joseph Pope from Fogg in November 1997: Bergendal catalogue no.119

Catalogue Note
