two leaves: (a) the Apostles within a large initial 'G' (opening "Gaudeamus omnes in ...", the introit for the feast of All Saints), on a leaf from an illuminated gradual, 500mm. by 355mm., the apostles with soft green faces with penstrokes picking out their features, and richly coloured robes, all on a chestnut-brown ground heightened with penwork flourishes, dabs of gold to frame of initial, rubrics in red, 5 lines of text with music on a 4-line red stave on verso, folio no."92" on recto, Italy (probably Bologna), c.1300; (b) leaf from a choirbook, 600mm. by 430mm., with a large initial 'D' (opening the responsory "Dixit dominus ad ..."), in bright orange, yellow and blue acanthus-leaves, all on blue grounds, enclosing intertwining sprays of similar leaves on a black background heightened with white penwork, folio no. "cccxxxiii" on recto, Italy, fifteenth century; both excellent condition
