fifteen leaves from two Bibles: (a) eight leaves from a Parisian Bible, probably from the Grusch atelier, each 178mm. by 125mm., with 18 initials in blue or pink on contrasting grounds, with tiny winged lacertine animals in their ascenders and within their bodies, intertwining and biting bezants and each other, one initial 'I' (opening the prologue to Proverbs) with a tiny blue eagle-like bird on top seizing a bezant, double column, 46 lines in black ink, capitals touched in red, rubrics in red, initials in red or blue with contrasting penwork, slight rubbing to gold, some small splits in leaves, else excellent condition; (b) seven leaves from a similar Bible, each 160mm. by 110mm., with 11 initials formed of multi-coloured leafy fronds finely touched with white penwork, and terminating in bright gold fruit, two with dragons with gold heads and another with a winged drollery-creature with a grey-faced human head, double column, 45 lines in brown ink, rubrics in red, small holes in borders of 2 leaves, else excellent condition
