Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been relined. There are faint areas of localised craquelure. There is a visible crack, approximately 2cm long to the feeding goat's neck, and two indentations: one above the rear of the right goat and one just right of its tail. There are a few small holes in the surface: one to the breast of the hen on the left, one to the back leg of the right hand goat and one to its tail. There is a small surface abrasion apprximately 10cm. right of this and a few other small surface abrasions only detectable upon very close inspection. There is penitmento to the boy's right arm. The surface is very dirty and may benefit from a light clean. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT Under UV light, there is a small area of retouching to the back of the cock and also on the ear of the feeding goat, both of which are visible to the naked eye and would benefit from being restored. There are small flecked retouchings across the canvas but these all appear cosmetic. FRAME Contained in a simple frame.
