Condition
STRUCTURE
Original canvas.
The paint surface is discoloured, with a few small isolated spots of staining, and may benefit from a light clean. There are faint signs of craquelure in places across the sky and a small area of lifting paint to the right of the ship, near in line with the middle of the mast. There are areas of rich impasto.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
Under ultraviolet light there are one or two darker areas just above the horizon which appear to be reworkings by the artist.

Held in a gilt plaster frame.
