Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been relined, presently visible along the upper edge in the current frame. There are some light frame abrasions along the right hand edge, otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT UV light reveals sweeping areas of retouching across the sky and a line of retouching running through the centre, which is the result of a repaired tear. There are areas of flecked retouching about it and another area near the upper left corner. There a few areas of retouching in the water and landscape in the foreground, and a few additional spots of retouching across the canvas. FRAME Held in a gilt plaster frame. Please telephone the department on 0207 293 5718 if you have any questions about the present work.
