Catalogue Note

Seaweed Gatherers depicts two Cornish kelp harvesters and a laden cart pulled by a pair of horses on the vast sands of Mount's Bay, looking towards the old harbour at Newlyn and Mousehole. One of the men stops to light his pipe, watched by his faithful collie as the horses are led away from the shore. Harvey had beautifully captured the silvery light from a sky heavy with rain-clouds, reflected in the wet sand and small rivulets and puddles of water.
