Catalogue Note
A very scarce historical map of Europe, showing the regions ruled, throughout history, by the French crown, from Charlemagne onwards, including Cyprus, ruled by the French Crusader kings.
The map is most notable, however, for the small inset map of 'Nouvelle France', Boisseau's earliest depiction of Canada, the map pre-dating his more famous folio size map of Canada published in 1643, an important and hitherto overlooked depiction of the region.
