Catalogue Note

A rare and important work describing Sadiq Bey's photographs of Makkah and Madinah. Included with this lot is a bound facsimile of a manuscript translation in French (Le flambeau du Mahmal), apparently by Charles Gaillardot (1814-1883), a French medical doctor who worked in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
