Catalogue Note

A richly illustrated and detailed journal by Winifred Bois of her travels through Egypt from Cairo to Aswan with her father (Frederic William) in the winter of 1903-04. It begins with her arrival in Cairo and meeting her father who had just travelled from Ceylon. They party visit the major ancient sights and the newly constructed Aswan dam, which F.W. Bois photographed. From Egypt Winifred Bois travelled to Rome via Naples and in addition to the illustrations mentioned above there are 40 photographic postcards of views of Rome and ancient Roman sculptures. At the end of the album are an additional 15 photographs (9 platininum prints and 6 silver prints) by F.W. Bois of views and winter sports in St. Moritz, including the Cresta Run.
