Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 6 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, and with some light surface soiling throughout. The patina on the base has likely been enhanced, and displays a deep rich brown coloration. The cushion on the base with a few small areas of minor surface pitting, which appears to be inherent in the making and simply minor casting imperfections. The base riser (just below the wheel) with slightly deep abrasions marks with associated patina losses. With period sockets, paddle switches, and a rare elaborately decorated finial. A beautiful example of this iconic model displaying the ideal shade and base pairing. The shade with a particularly artistic and thoughtful glass selection which imparts the lamp with a beautiful aquatic sensibility. The bright turquoise background glass, which is vigorously streaked with tonalities of magenta, cobalt, green and yellow, effectively simulates swirling water (more effectively than the typical rippled glass often employed in this shade model). The floral register is also beautifully rendered in subtle tonalities of pinks, yellows, greens and whites.
