Condition

Overall in very good condition. With approximately 50 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, which is a reasonable number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles which were required to execute this complex and monumental shade. The shade leading is beautifully rendered, displaying an exceptionally rich green and russet brown patina. The patinated bronze surfaces similarly display a superb rich and vibrant green and russet brown patina, with some light surface wear and rubbing around the perimeter of the cushion base consistent with age and gentle use. The sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. The period finial with a few shallow surface indentations, and the upper knop presently sits very slightly askew (this can be easily aligned if desired). The upper wheel on the base (located just below the finial and concealed by the shade) with considerable surface oxidation. A superb example displaying the ideal shade and base pairing for the model. The glass selection is elegant and artistic, distinguished by the strong use of cobalt blue background glass along the upper register which is delicately balanced with softer tones of cobalt along the lower irregular border. The vigorous mottling to the glass throughout and thoughtful color placement imparts the shade with great visual interest and movement.
