Catalogue Note

First edition. The work is of primary interest for its views of towns in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois. According to Howes, this is the first book to contain a view of Chicago (plate 18, a view entitled "Entrée de la Rivière de Chicago"). Rare, only two copies have sold since the Streeter sale in 1967, and neither was printed on india paper.
