Catalogue Note
Splendid collection of views in Berne. The work first appeared in 1796 with text in French and German. This edition contains a new text, in French, by Stapfer (1766-1840), a Berne statesman who wished to remain anonymous. Two plates in the original edition (Zweilutchinen and Glaciers of Grindelwald) have been replaced in this edition with a new view of those glaciers and La Cime de la Jungfrau (plates 8 & 9).
