Catalogue Note

First edition of the portfolio edition, no. 9 of 20 sets of these woodcuts made to illustrate Lorenzo Da Ponte's libretto of Don Giovanni. In addition to the edition of 300 copies of the book, 20 copies of the "Mappenausgabe" were issued without text, with the woodblocks (including four not published in the text editions) printed by hand on the Manus Press in Berlin.
