2 volumes in one, 16mo (5 x 2 7/8 in.; 127 x 73 mm). Woodcut headpieces and title vignettes on each title. Contemporary vellum, double-fillet border filled with green wash, pen and sepia wash portrait of La Fontaine on upper cover, of an allegorical muse on the lower cover, spine gilt with greek urn stamp and blue tinted labels, dentelles, white silk pastedowns, pink-coated free endpapers, fore-edge painting of a castle on a river, in an original green limp morocco slipcase.
