Catalogue Note

First edition, in original wrappers. Zimmer remarks that this work was planned to extend to between 90 and 95 parts "and to embrace all the known species of Ploceidae and Fringillidae. In the fragmentary form in which the publication remains, the pagination and plate-numbers are incomplete, being distinct for each genus." Bartlett's Monograph was the first work to feature Frohawk's ornithological illustrations; he eventually had over 1,000 of his drawings reproduced in books about birds.
