Folio (16 1/2 x 12 1/4 in.; 420 x 313 mm). 45 color-printed wood-engraved plates by F.-L. Schmied after paintings by Jean Goulden, each numbered 29/70 and signed in pencil by Schmied and Goulden, hand-illuminated half-title with stenciled polychrome decoration, title-page printed in black ink and colors; leaf with "Le Hortiach" plate browned. Together with: loosely laid in sepia woodcut portrait on japan paper of a middle-aged man in profile numbered in pencil 9/25 and initialed by Schmied. And with: authograph letter signed by Goulden to an unknown recipient dated 8 April 1922 tipped to the blank recto of the limitation leaf. Half dark brown morocco over marbled boards, spine in 6 compartments (one lettered gilt), marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. Marbled slipcase tipped in brown morocco.

Limited edition, copy no. 29 of 70 on japan, from a total edition of 77. The illustrations are after paintings by Jean Goulden, a major in the Easter Army Corps who married Schmied's daughter Dolly. There are nineteen views of Salonika, seven views of the Macedonian Valley, and nineteen views of Mount Athos.
