2 volumes, text volume 8vo (9 3/4 x 6 1/2 in.; 248 x 165 mm). Plate volume folio (24 x 17 3/4 in.; 610 x 450 mm). Half-titles in each volume, text volume with 30 photogravures including frontispiece, plate volume with 40 engravings in mezzotint and stipple with captioned paper guards; lower right corner of first paper guard in plate volume torn away. Both volumes in red crushed morocco with double-fillet borders, inlaid purple morocco frame and a large central panel with an elaborate strapwork interlace of stylized flowers made from inlaid green (in two shades), orange, and purple morocco, with gilt-ruled edges, doublures and endleaves of olive crushed morocco, the doublures with elaborate interlace of thistle and strapwork made from red inlaid morocco gilt tooled, top edges gilt, signed in gilt "Morrell, binder;" corners rubbed, head and foot of spine chipped, slight abrasion in covers, edges of plate volume scraped with some rubbing in joints.
