84 fascicules (plus one additional variant and 2 fascicules La Marseillaise on different paper stocks from the 1848 second edition) on heavy card stock (11 1/4 x 7 3/8 in.; 285 x 188 mm), with pictorial borders (a few full page illustrations), publisher's slip listing the first 36 fascicules on yellow tissue, preliminaries comprise 3 letterpress title-pages, 3 engraved title-pages (1st series with additional engraved title before letters), letterpress introductions, 3 lists of songs; occasional foxing and soiling. Loose as issued in cream, yellow, and blue pictorial wrappers, each series contained in a pictorial chemise; several wrappers split at center, some soiling, spotting and discoloration. Blue straight-grain morocco-backed chemises lettered gilt, morocco tipped slipcases.
