8vo (7 3/4 x 5 1/8 in.; 198 x 130 mm).  Title-page in blue and gilt, text in red and blue, pages with printed red rules, 8 wood-engraved circular vignettes in colors and highlighted with printed gold, 11 wood-engraved floral vignettes printed in color, large pictorial initial, blue initials over-printed with gold, by Lucien Pissarro.  Original gray limp calf, upper cover lettered and decorated in gilt, sewn Japanese fashion; some rubbing, minor wear at extremities.

Catalogue Note

Copy 106 of 110 press-numbered copies on japon vellum (of a whole edition of 125).  This copy accompanied by one of 12 sets of extra plates on chine, each numbered and signed by Pissarro.  This set consists of the 8 wood-engraved  circular vignettes and the large pictorial initial.

"This elegant little book [is] perhaps the handsomest of any issued by the Eragny Press" (Ray).  The Chinese poems are taken from Le Livre de jade and translated into French by Judith Gautier.
