Catalogue Note

A fine copy in jacket of the first Tarzan book and a landmark of popular literature.

Blanck notes in Peter Parley to Penrod that copies with and without the acorn ornament have been noted and that "no priority for either state has been determined". This statement has since been revised. Robert B. Zeuschner has noted that the second is identical to the first "...except there is a small gold acorn on the spine... The acorn edition is very desirable to collectors, and it is even rarer than the first state... inasmuch as there were probably only 2,500 copies printed. The dust-jacket is identical with the [first state]."
