Catalogue Note
The Arthur Swann copy of Thayer's celebrated baseball poem. The book is accompanied by a typed letter signed from Carroll A. Wilson, who purchased the book from Swann in 1935: "I am greatly obliged to you for it, and shall insure it for $50. unless you advise me to the contrary. (One is always fearful with things of this sort that Merle Johnson or I or some other pest will turn up something earlier)". Also included is a small collection of newspaper clippings relating to the poem.
