Catalogue Note
First appearance of Poe's "Raven" in the scarce original wrappers. Heartman and Canny contend that the American Review publication, dated February 1845, takes priority over the appearance of the poem in the 29 January 1845 issue of the Evening Mirror, insofar as the February installment of the American Review was to be issued in early January. Only two copies in wrappers have been sold at auction in the past thirty years.
