Catalogue Note
Second issue of the first British edition, with four blanks filled in type. In the first issue there were gaps on 15 pages in passages commenting on the King and the Parliament; subsequent issues filled in most of these. Some copies of this edition appear with Chalmers's Plain Truth under a collective half-title, but (Adams states) "The difference in paper used in the two, in at least some copies, suggests that they were printed at different times."
The Additions were compiled by the publisher Bell from Philadelphia newspapers and were not by Paine. This edition reprints five of them.
