Catalogue Note
After congratulating Weedon "on the near prospect of peace" Steuben turns his attention to his business affairs of locating 15,000 acres of prime land in Virgina which the state had granted him. Steuben had apparently authorized Weedon, a native of Virginia: " ... to locate for my use the 15000 acres of land which the state was pleased to give me. If I have not already, I now request & impower you to act for me in this affair in such manner as you should think most conducive to my interest. I wish to keep the 15000 acres intire, but if it is necesssary that apart should be given for locating the rest, I must be content; but on no account whatever would I have a single acre sold."
