Sale, Christie's South Kensington, 14 March 2006, lot 308, where acquired by the present owner

Condition

Original canvas. Tape has been applied around the outer edges which has become loose in places. There are a few faint scuff marks about the edges and a faint stretcher bar mark along the upper edge. There is a network of light faint square indentation in the upper right quadrant, which appear to have occurred in the studio. There are also some spots of staining through the centre of the work in the black pigment; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. Under ultraviolet light there appears to be a small spot of retouching near the lower left corner and certain other areas fluoresce but these appear natural to the pigment. Held in a dark stained wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on 0207 293 5575 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
