Catalogue Note

The fluidity of the brushwork and the light palette in this composition suggest a date of execution of around 1933-6. Given this date, the picture may represent a scene in County Kerry, which Henry first visited in 1933 and to which he returned in the autumn of the following year. 'It is lovely,' he wrote to a friend in New York after his second visit. 'Wherever one turns there is material for dozens of pictures'.
