Condition
There is dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is a black lacquer applied throughout which has rubbing and flaking at the high points. Jupiter is mounted on a capital cast in a different alloy which screws onto the stand, the alloy of which also differs from the Jupiter. There is a circular hole for mounting between Jupiter's feet. There are several lacunas and minor stable hairline fissures due to casting faults, including to the leg of the firedog to the rear of Jupiter.

Catalogue Note
This bronze would have been part of a larger firedog, and would probably have been paired with a figure of Juno.
