Description

  • beech/elm
decorated all over with gilt foliage and landscape vignettes including pagodas, the backs with solid vase splats and on cabriole legs (also illustrated on page 1)

Provenance

With Spark & Son, London where acquired by Wilfrid Evill (£58) May 1960 and thence by descent to Honor Frost.

Condition

Very stylish. Rubbing, chips and some retouching to surface of each. Cracks to the joints of each chair, each seat with notable wear to painting from use. One chair of an uneven stance. Aside from chips to painted decoration there are also some localised losses to the lacquer revealing the wood below.
