Description

  • Pine, wood, iron
  • 79cm. high, 101cm. wide, 49cm. deep; 2ft. 7in., 3ft. 3¾in., 1ft. 7¼in.
the semi-elliptical fossiliferous limestone top above a shell and foliate carved frieze on a seated winged mythical beast support, top associated

Condition

An impressive and finely carved table, the marble top is in good condition but with some stains, there are minor chips and losses to the carved decoration and the gilding is worn throughout, some cracks and separations to the frieze and some reattached sections of carvings, the top has been increased in depth. The beast now lacks a tongue and has repairs and areas of filler to its foliate tail, which also has a break. It is probable that this table would have been raised on a base, however this not detract from the overall attractiveness of the table.
