Description

  • Porcelain
  • 9cm., 3½in. wide
moulded with rococo reserves and enamelled with chinoiseries and scattered insects, the interior cover with similar decoration, minor damage

Condition

There is damage to the rear wall of the box where a piece measuring approximately 1cm square on the interior has been broken out and restored back in place. On the exterior this damage is much smaller, approximately 1cm wide x 5mm deep. There are minute losses around its rim on the exterior and a fine associated crack clearly visible on the interior approx. 1cm long. There are some fine glaze scratches to the cover and base. The interior of the cover has a very small shallow chip, possibly a firing flaw, to the centre of the left side, and another small shallow chip directly opposite this one. There is minor damage to the hinged siliver mount to the rear on the right side next to the hinge.
