the leaf cast six branch reservoir on a slender baluster stem centred by a coiled snake with compressed lion's paw supports and black marble triform plinth, now made into a lamp

Provenance

Probably the lamp described as 'A Regency Table Lamp' with Temple Williams Ltd., Haunch of Venison Yard, London, where acquired by Wilfrid Evill (£45) circa 1954 and thence by descent to Honor Frost.

Condition

Very decorative. The pleated silk shade is distressed and stained. The gilt-bronze mounts are tarnished. Marble stained and with very minor chips. This piece has been drilled for electricity. Sotheby's would recommend that this piece is professionally rewired and is not being sold as a working light.
